Celtic Target Wakaso Mubarak Having Medical Ahead Of Loan Move

Wakaso Mubarak: Celtic target (l) in action for Ghana against Portugal
Celtic have confirmed that Rubin Kazan winger Wakaso Mubarak is undergoing a medical in Russia ahead of a possible loan switch to Glasgow.

There is a sense of urgency for the Scottish champions if they want him to feature against Maribor in their Champions League play-off first leg, as the player must be registered by 23.00 on Tuesday night if he is to feature in Slovenia on Wednesday.

Assistant manager John Collins said: "It is probably 50-50. The medical is being done overseas and hopefully he will join us over there (Slovenia), fingers crossed, but nothing definite.

"He has pace in the wider areas, can deliver on his left foot, that is what we are looking for, to add pace at the top of the pitch."

Celtic have been busy in the last week strengthening their squad, adding Manchester City's Jason Denayer and Aleksandar Tonev from Aston Villa on season-long loan deals.

Mubarak is a Ghana international who has won 19 caps for his country, scoring seven times and would also be signing a season-long deal.

He played for Ghana against Germany and Portugal at the World Cup finals in Brazil during the summer.
The 22-year-old played in Spain for both Villarreal and Espanyol prior to his move to Russia last year.
