Crystal Palace are expected to name
their new manager today and Malky Mackay is the frontrunner to replace
Tony Pulis, according to Sky sources.
Mackay is thought to be the preferred choice of co-chairman Steve Parish, who interviewed him and former Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood over the weekend.
Glenn Hoddle, the QPR first-team coach, ruled himself out of the running on Monday, and bookmakers have suspended betting on Mackay becoming the next Palace boss.
Previous boss Pulis steered the club to safety last season, but left by mutual consent last Thursday, just two days before the season-opening 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.
If he takes charge at Selhurst Park, Mackay will be reunited with Eagles sporting director Iain Moody, who worked with him at Cardiff.
Mackay was sacked by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan last December, with the team lying in 16th in the Premier League table, and the Bluebirds would later slip to relegation.
