William Carvalho looks destined to quit Sporting Lisbon

Chelsea are set to move ahead of Arsenal in the race for William Carvalho by making a £35million offer for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

The Blues have ramped up their interest in Carvalho in the last few days and despite Jose Mourinho insisting that his shopping is finished, he is readying an offer for the player.

According to Abola newspaper, the bid will be about £35million – £2million short of his release clause – but Sporting could be open to selling at that price.   
The Portuguese club are desperate to move on the 22-year-old in order to raise cash for other deals, and have already received a £24million offer from Arsenal.

It’s thought that it was rejected, but the Gunners are still keen, and now know they need to pull their finger out if they are to win the race for the powerful midfielder.
