Boxing Intern Wanted

Description
The Pod Index, LLC, in collaboration with Boxing.com, is looking for a qualified intern to join our team.
The Pod Index, LLC is a sports statistics company which provides various consulting services, focusing primarily on judges and fighters in combative sports. We produce quality work for both government agencies and private companies in the Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts industries.
This intern should be prepared to work in a highly data-driven, analytical environment and will finish the internship having gained unique experience in various aspects of applied statistical analysis and consulting.

Responsibilities
• Assist in the creation and interpreting of various reports for current and prospective clients
• Assist in the improvement and maintenance of a proprietary online database
• Contribute to regression analysis on judges
• Prepare presentations for seminars
• Perform beta testing on new applications
• Watch boxing on television to pilot new metrics
• Attend local boxing and MMA fights!

Requirements
The Pod Index, LLC is looking for an undergraduate or graduate student who is majoring in Sports Management, Statistics, Business, or Journalism. The student must exhibit the highest levels of discretion with the specific data he/she is exposed to. This person must be proficient in Excel.  Experience in PowerPoint and Word and is a bonus. The student must be a fan of the sport of Boxing (or MMA) or at least understand it at a basic level.

Compensation
We can either work with your school to secure internship credits (if offered by your institution) or provide a modest stipend. We will cover any out-of-pocket expenses such as travel and attending events.

Timeframe and Location
This internship is flexible. We ask for a minimum commitment of five hours of work per week and a total minimum of 150 hours. Some time will need to be spent working in an office setting with the executive manager, while most work can be completed remotely, with intermittent supervision and support via phone and email.
